I've been experimental lately, and have been trying raw foods. I came across this raw cookie from Kookie Karma, so I decided to try it out.
- The flavor choices: Banana Bread, Cherry Cashew, Granola Bar, Carob Truffle, and Lemon Fig.
- It's organic, vegan, raw, gluten free, high protein, and no soy.
- Moist and chewy with delicious flavor. I tried the Lemon Fig as that sounded the most interesting.
- Sweetened with agave nectar
- The packaging is beautiful. The designer in me just dug the whole presentation
The downside:
- Way expensive at $2.79 (at a Whole Foods in SF Bay Area) for one cookie the size of a puck that could fit in the palm of a woman's hand. I could buy a 3/4 pound avocado for that amount of money and even then I think that is still outrageous. At the Kookie Karma site, you can buy a box of 12 for $27 which is bit better at $2.25ea, but still.
There are only 7 ingredients in the cookie which is cool, but a part of me kept thinking that I could make this cookie myself and eat more for much cheaper. However, the cookie is already packaged and ready to eat. There is also a Holistic line of Kookies which are vegan but not raw.
I picture the folks who would love this cookie are the same people who like drinking Voss Water and read Vogue or are food early adopters, or eat only the best-of-the-best. I could also see this cookie in the vending machines at the W Hotels and in frou-frou spas. There is a health-stylish thing going on.
Personally, I did love the cookie and would buy it again more often, if the price came down. If there were a bunch laying around for free, someone would have to stop me from eating them all.
