When it comes to bottled water, the designer and story-lover in me digs waters that come in exquisitely designed bottles, have heart grabbing stories, and utter a promise of pure streams of refreshing delight. Yea, most of them are way over priced, but so what. And yeah, it's kinda sappy stuff, but work with me for a moment.
The kinds of bottled waters I speak of and enjoy include Voss, Ethos (the bottled water sold at Starbucks that's helping children around the world get clean water), and Smart Water. When Smart Water first came out I thought those people were so clever for putting witty commentary on a beautifully designed bottle.
So when I heard of Balance Water from Australia (I adore Aussies) which contains flower essences and comes in a bottle that looks like something you'd see in the Sex & the City movie, then hello! Where can I get me some?
Well, my wish came true and I was gifted with a sample pack of each product: Balance, Balance for Women, Balance for Traveling, and Balance for Children. Each product comes with its own set of flower essences that have specific healing properties.{Click the links for each water to find out its flowers and healing properties.} Something to note is that you cannot taste, see, or smell the flower essences. If you were blindfolded, each of the 4 products literally taste and smell the same.
Now, some of you are thinking right away, "Well this is all marketing fluff then?" How can I get a benefit from the flower essences if I can't taste it, see it, or smell it? This could just be plain old tap water in pretty bottles. The truth is is that you start to experience benefits in your emotional well being over time, and yes, I get that's not enough "meat" for the skeptics. But hear me out for a sec.
Flower essences are primarily used in alternative modes of healing and homeopathy for an all natural way of helping in emotional healing. Flower Essences became popular in the 1930's by Dr. Edward Bach from London who developed his line of Bach Remedies using English flowers, 38 flowers in his case. He discovered that particular flowers had energies that healed particular emotions. Worldwide, there are many flowers for various use. For example in the Balance Water, the Paw-Paw helps prevent overwhelmed feelings. Crowea calms and helps with worry. The Tall Yellow Top provides relief when in unfamiliar environments.
In the past, I have used flower essences therapy during times when I was doing some intense emotional work on childhood and physical trauma issues. I can say that they did help, but at first I was skeptical because my head had the burned-in notion that the only way to heal emotional stuff was through pharmaceuticals. I tried that way and I certainly was drugged out most of the time, but I never felt like I was getting better. The alternative modalities utilizing natural products helped me far more, so I was sold.
But back to Balance Water...
Initially, I think Balance Water will appeal to the stylish affluent folk or those willing to spend the cash and are into alternative healing modalities. Right now Balance Water is only available in the US at Whole Foods in the NY Metro area. {See, the Sex & the City girls get it first.} You can order online, or you can wait a bit until it hits more shelves. I enjoyed the waters and would buy them once they come to a store near me.
