I think this is really cool especially for those of us who live and breathe on our mobile phones. Taking Green another step forward, Whole Foods market is testing out gift giving on phones.
That's right, no more having to buy a plastic gift card or even going into a store, you can go online and send someone some shopping money...instantly for you and them. Sweet!
All you need is a creadit card and your recipient's cell number. Your giftee receives a text with the good news of your generosity.
Right now, the amounts available are $5, $10, $25, and $50.
Currently, because they are still in the testing phase, the ability to send these phone gifts is only available for Whole Foods stores in Southern California, Arizona, Southern Nevada, and Hawaii. I'm feeling pretty special living here in Phoenix :) For the Whole Foods stores in Arizona, here is their Facebook page where you can giiv one of these coolio gifts.
For those in the other states, refer to your local Whole Foods store Facebook page or go to the giiv.com website here.
5 Reasons giving money on the phone is better than getting a plastic card:
- People lose gift cards all the time which is the same as losing cash. When it's in e-form, the money is always available to your giftee.
- Because it's easy if you're lazy like me. Honestly, if I can meet my gift giving obligations lounging on the couch, then I'm in. Besides, by not driving, I'm saving gas and the environment, right?!
- It's instantaneous! You can bring a smile to someones face pronto...especially when you have forgotten to get them a gift...not that any of us have done that but just in case {wink.}
- People's wallets are crammed with enough stuff like licences, pictures of the loved ones, and credit cards. eGifts help keep the wallets thinner!
- Did I mention, it's easy? ...Oh yeah, I did because again I'm lazy and too tired to think of a 5th reason better than the previous 4 reasons.
