I find Asian markets fascinating because there is always something in there that is unusual like this fruit. Can you name this fruit?
The answer is after the jump...
Dragon Fruit aka Pitaya is the fruit of a cactus widely grown and harvested in Southeast Asia. Serious Eats has a great slideshow of how Dragon Fruit grows and what the inside looks like. In texture, the Dragon Fruit is somewhere between a kiwifruit and a watermelon.
Have you tried Dragon Fruit before? What did you think of it and how did you eat it?
