I LOVE how greens make me feel! Any esthetician will tell you that one of the secrets to great skin is what you eat on a daily basis. Eating fresh nutrient-dense foods is one of the best ways to help your skin stay healthy and glowing.
That's why every day to help slow down the effects of aging, I eat at least one bowl of a nutrient-dense green salad like this one which has Ruby Streaks Mustard Greens, Arugula, Kale, Shaved Brussels Sprouts, and Radicchio. Often I eat salad for breakfast because it's a great way to start the day and not spike the blood sugar levels first thing.
I always add avocado and walnuts to my salads to get some protein and valuable omegas. I'll throw on other toppings I get at the Whole Foods salad bar like edamame, radishes, shaved beets, shaved carrots, garbanzos, peas or black beans. I go light on dressings and usually stick to vegan vinaigrettes.
Here are some other leafy greens to try in a salad: Tatsoi, Rainbow Chard, Frisee, and Purple Kale.
What kind of greens do you like in your salad?
