Imagine the rich smell of fresh basil and now add in a spritz of soothing lemony fragrance and you have lemon basil. Oh yes, it is divine.
Lemon basil is a popular herb used in Arabic, Indonesian, Lao, Persian and Thai cuisine. You can find it at farmers markets, Asian markets, or you can grow your own. I found this bunch at the SF Ferry Building farmers market this weekend, and I just stood there for awhile inhaling the lemony basil smell like I was getting a dose of aromatherapy.
Some ideas where you could use lemon basil: a summery bruschetta with heirloom tomato, caprese salad, strawberry lemon basil lemonade, or in pesto sauce.
